Project: One Book a Month (1BaM)

I recently decided to start a personal project for 2010: buying one book every month this year. I simply like books not only because I'm an avid and tremendously fast reader of novels. It simply feels cozy to actually own them and have a nice bookshelf in your room. Also, my family has a long tradition in selling books and owns a small bookstore in Bremervörde which I really like.

Google Wave - the new way of collaborative communication

Google Wave Logo Yesterday Google announced a new, mind blowing product called Google Wave. You can watch a video of the 80 minutes developer preview at the Google I/O conference. In this blog post I'll try to summarize some of the features that I found most significant and interesting, including some highlighted snapshots from the presentation mentioned above.

What is Google Wave?

Google Wave is a collaborative communication plattform that is - as far as I think - about to set a milestone in redefining the way we think about email, instant messaging, collaborative work and online communication in general. A wave can be understood in terms of a simple type of content, like a page, an email, a gallery or a discussion.

By adding other people to a wave you can invite them to take part in your wave, for example by using the inline discussion functionality that is similar to what we used to know as instant messaging. The only difference: this conversations can now be located inside a document, exactly next to the part you'd like to discuss.

Kirchentag 2009 in Bremen - A call for more media related topics and some photographic impressions

I visited the Kirchentag in Bremen on Saturday and took part in the parallel Kirchentag barcamp. Unfortunately one day is far to less time to even get a glimpse of the tremendous programm that is offered to the visitors. I'm a bit disappointed that the extensive programm is structured in such a bad manner. It's / it was really hard to easily (i.e. fast) find interesting events to take part in. However the reason for this might also be that I was mainly looking for media and internet related things, which unfortunately are very, very rare on the Kirchentag.

In my opinion the church, i.e. the Evangelische Kirche Deutschland with all it's local communities, doesn't even use 1/10th of the potential it could draw from modern media, especially the web 2.0.

However, there were still a lot of interesting things to see and experience. Here are some of my photographic impressions of a sunny day at the Kirchentag in Bremen. I just got started using Lightroom for editing my photos. They might look a bit overstyled as I'm currently experimenting with all the cool features it offers to pimp up your photos!

Some of the websites I have build throughout the years. Most of them are running on Drupal Content Management System, ranging from ancient Drupal 4 Version up to state-of-the-art Drupal 6 websites. I'm a jack of all trades concerning Drupal. All of the presented websites wear custom tailored themes designed by me.
